History
The U.S.S. Ares is the namesake and prototype of the Ares-class — Starfleet's answer to the Klingon D6 during the Four Years War. Under Captain Garth of Izar, she became the symbol of Ramirez's rebuilt fleet and the vessel that proved Federation captains could win fleet engagements.
Prelude to Axanar documents Operation Pegasus at Signis III as the class's first combat test. Garth's audacious tactics there — aided by Captain Sonya Alexander's maneuver — established his reputation before the Battle of Axanar.
Production Record
The Ares bridge set at Ares Studios is among the most documented environments in fan film history. Alec Peters has filmed multiple production updates from the fully decorated USS Ares bridge during post-production of the Axanar sequels.
Registry Note
Production materials, Cygnus-X1 blueprints, and Star Trek Expanded Universe references use registry NCC-1650. Earlier archive entries may list NCC-1000 — both refer to the same hero vessel in the Axanar continuity.
Transcript & Broadcast Record
“It was Sonia's maneuver that gave me the opening… after the Battle of Signis III, our ship captains started giving the Federation its due as worthy adversary.”
